What really confused me at first was what is a Niche, a Market and A Niche Market. This caused me to choose a wrong keyword phrase and I couldn't generate any traffic. But after watching the videos and hearing the podcast a couple more times and researching Mike Mendel's blog, I think I've finally for it.

So What Is A Niche....
A Niche is something people are interested in. What I'd do is I start with a huge niche and work my way down to the smallest niche I can think of.

Take for example Cars. Are there people interested in Cars? Of course. But Cars is a really huge niche, we need to narrow it down. So narrowing Cars, we have Race Cars, Antique Cars, Brand New Cars, Japanese Cars, etc. Is this still too large? Let's take Japanese Cars and go smaller. Now we have 'buying Japanese Cars', 'maintaining Japanese Cars', 'fixing Japanese Cars', 'decorating Japanese Cars', 'Japanese Car designs', 'selling Japanese cars', 'driving Japanese Cars', etc.

Get the picture? We do not want to have a huge niche where there'll be like millions of competing pages. We want a sub niche which people would be interested in but with not much competition.

What Is A Market?
A Market is a specific group of people. Examples of markets are women, pregnant women, parents, single parents, house owners, car owners, unemployed graduates, children, teens, handicap people, etc.

Now, Then What Is A Niche Market?
A Niche Market would then be a specific group of people interested in a sub niche. If we combine the two examples above, we can come up with Niche Markets like 'single parents who are interested in buying Japanese Cars' or 'Japanese car owners who want to learn how to maintain their cars' or 'handicap people who want to drive a Japanese Car' or 'unemployed graduates who want to learn to fic cars for a living', etc.

Why is identifying the niche market important? To discover what they'd want to know. Start asking yourself how you can solve their problems.

How can you help a Japanese Car owner who wants to learn how to maintain his car well? By providing useful car maintenance tips. By providing Japanese Car maintenance guides. Now you know the solution. All you need is to work out the keyword phrases. Look at the solution and cut out the filler words. So considering the solution 'by providing useful Japanese Car maintenance tips', your keyword phrase would be 'Japanese car maintenance tips'.
